Authentication

Configure your MCP token in the client (e.g. Authorization: Bearer mcp_xxxxx). Create or copy the token from https://akashic-mcp.com/admin → Settings.

Authentication

Akashic MCP uses OAuth 2.0 for secure authentication. The authentication flow is automatic:

  1. First Tool Use: When you first use an Akashic MCP tool, you'll be prompted to authenticate
  2. OAuth Redirect: Your client will redirect you to the authentication URL
  3. Login: Complete the login using Firebase/Google OAuth
  4. Return: After authentication, return to your client
  5. Ready: Tools will now work automatically

For detailed authentication information, see the Authentication Guide.

Verifying Your Connection

After configuration, verify that your connection works:

Test the Endpoint

Test the MCP endpoint directly:

curl -X POST https://akashic-mcp.com/mcp \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "jsonrpc": "2.0",
    "method": "tools/list",
    "params": {},
    "id": 1
  }'

Expected response:

{
  "jsonrpc": "2.0",
  "id": 1,
  "result": {
    "tools": [
      {
        "name": "list_collections",
        "description": "..."
      },
      ...
    ]
  }
}

In Your Client

  1. List Tools: Your client should show Akashic MCP tools available
  2. Test Tool: Try using a simple tool like list_collections from your AI assistant
  3. Check Logs: Review client logs for any connection errors

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Connection Timeout

  • Check network: Ensure you have internet connectivity
  • Verify URL: Confirm the endpoint URL is correct
  • Firewall: Check if a firewall is blocking the connection
  • Proxy: If behind a proxy, configure your client accordingly

Authentication Errors

  • Follow OAuth flow: Complete the authentication when prompted
  • Check tokens: Ensure tokens haven't expired
  • Re-authenticate: Try disconnecting and reconnecting

Tools Not Appearing

  • Restart client: Fully restart your IDE or LLM client
  • Check configuration: Verify JSON syntax is correct
  • Verify endpoint: Test the endpoint manually with curl
  • Check logs: Review client logs for error messages

JSON Syntax Errors

  • Validate JSON: Use a JSON validator to check syntax
  • No trailing commas: Ensure no trailing commas in JSON
  • Proper quotes: Use double quotes for JSON strings

Getting Help

If you continue to experience issues:

  1. Discord Community: Join our Discord server for support and community help
  2. Check the API Reference for endpoint details
  3. Review the Authentication Guide for auth issues
  4. Verify your configuration matches the examples above
  5. Test the endpoint directly with curl to isolate client issues
